Nacho Vibe: Dennis Mecham’s “Macho Vibe” Once Again for Sale

No longer meant for Michigan winters, this “Super Vibe” certainly needs saving.

As we’re poised to kiss 2020 goodbye, it would appear the object of one of our more popular posts was unlucky in love, having fatefully kissed a deer. Some of our more avid fans might recall this post of ours from 2014 regarding the 1 of 1 Dennis Mecham Macho Vibe show car created for the 2004 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) Show. Since then, it’s popped up a few times for sale. It was advertised on Craig’s List in 2017 for a whopping $15,000, which, in spite of it being a 1-of-1, low-mile 200hp Vibe GT, left the online Vibe community reeling from sticker shock. Then, despite its obtuse custom paint job, it once again resumed relative obscurity. That is, until today. It only seems fitting it should come up for sale again in 2020, this time a little worse for wear…

Somehow, the Macho Vibe, originally located in a multi-car garage in Arizona, has become the “Nacho Vibe” having had a few owners and fewer takers before finding itself all the way back to its snowy birthplace, just outside of Detroit, Michigan. According to the seller’s description below, the eventual migration was not without incident. In addition to making new friends with the local wildlife, it appears to have acquired a new engine (so long 200 hp) and need a new transmission.

Seller’s description

2005 Pontiac vibe GT Matrix This car is actually a seama car built by dennis mecham himself. Plenty of parts on the vehicle are aftermarket parts, just paid 3500 for a new engine and 1000 brand new low profile tires, has a 200 watt aftermarket sound system. Unfortunately hit a deer which is why there is damage in the front right of the vehicle, it rand strong for 2 weeks after the hit and then my transmission blew out, I dont have any more money to put into this car anymore and it hurts to post this but I’d rather see her sold to the right person other than rotting in my yard. Plenty of information about the vehicle so if you have any questions regarding it please let me know

Here is the link to the ad on Facebook Marketplace. Someone, please save this car from an even worse fate than what’s already befallen it! Any Vibe is a Vibe worth saving, but especially a rarified GT created to inspire new ownership by a celebrated builder. Sure, the tri-color paint scheme perhaps didn’t wear well over time, but you can custom wrap the car to look however you like while still preserving the legacy underneath. Please contact us if you do save it.
